Job description

We are looking for an Assistant to join our team in Montreal (Quebec) in a permanent position. You will take part in projects both in-house and for IMDS customers, working with the sales and R&D teams.
This is a stimulating position, ideal for someone looking for a challenging administrative role, dealing with customers, sales teams, R&D and IMDS partners.

The various tasks include :
1. Followed up on IMDS’ ISO9001 and ISO27001 policies,
2. Prepare and carry out follow-ups with R&D and Support/Service teams (reports, progress monitoring, etc.),
3. Analyze and follow up on customer projects, bids and responses to calls for tenders from private companies (insurance, banks, etc.) and government departments (ministries, Crown corporations, provincial and federal) required to sell products and services,
4. Administrative management of projects and teams.

The assistant works closely with the CTO on projects involving software solutions published and distributed by IMDS, in the fields of :
1. Automated Document Recognition and Reading (ADR/LAD), OCR, facial recognition, etc,
2. Customer Communication Management solutions,
3. Electronic Document Management (EDM) and Archiving solutions.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience,
  • Analytical skills, sense of initiative, autonomous, good communication skills,
  • Good knowledge of information technology products and solutions,
  • Good level of English and French,
  • Assets :
    • Programming skills
    • Previous IT experience
    • Project management skills (specifications, Gantt charts, resource tracking)

Context

IMDS is a publisher of software solutions for Automatic Document Recognition and Reading. Our solutions are used by major companies in the banking, insurance and telecoms sectors, as well as by government bodies (ministries, libraries, archives, etc.).

Job description

The person we’re looking for will contribute to the development of a dematerialization solution, and will deal more specifically with subjects linked to image processing algorithms (filtering, denoising, blur management, color management, etc.) and recognition (OCR/ICR, cursive keyword recognition, pattern recognition, document classification, modeling, etc.).

His tasks may include :
1. Research, analysis and presentation of scientific publications,
2. Further developments,
3. Tests, integration of algorithms for image processing and recognition,
4. Collaborate with universities and laboratories with expertise in the field,
5. Correction and maintenance of recognition programs,
6. Drafting of test procedures, documentation of results,
7. Write documentation (product, training material).

Requirements

  • Scientific expertise in image processing (filtering and restoration algorithms, segmentation algorithms, pattern detection) and recognition (neural network models, hidden Markov models, deep learning, etc.),
  • Knowledge of handwriting recognition techniques,
  • Ability to research and study scientific publications in the field,
  • Excellent level in mathematics and signal processing,
  • Knowledge of program acceleration/parallelization technologies (e.g. MPI, CUDA, OpenMP, multithreading),
  • Analytical skills, ability to make proposals,
  • Reactivity, autonomy,
  • Programming language: C++, knowledge of Java, Python, SQL,
  • Library: OpenCV, ImageJ, PDF processing library,
  • Database: MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB,
  • IDE: Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA.
